The Ghana Co-Operative Pharmacists’ Credit Union Ltd (GCPCUL) has recently recognized and honored two of its staff members, Mr. Francis Abebio Mensah and Mrs. Hamidatu Abubakar, for their commendable long service to the union. Both individuals, serving as Relationship Officers at the Head Office, were formally acknowledged and celebrated by the Board of Directors (BOD). This decision by the BOD reflects a strategic move to institutionalize and implement a policy that acknowledges and appreciates staff members dedicating their careers to the union’s growth.

The awards ceremony, which took place on the 25th of January 2024 at the Head Office, coincided with the official visit of the Board Chairman of CUA, Dr. Bernard B. B. Bingab, accompanied by Mr. Cyprian K. A. Basing (General Manager of CUA) and Mrs. Abigail Ofori-Twumasi (General Manager of the Tema Chapter of CUA). The two esteemed staff members, each having served the union for over a decade, received a citation honoring their dedicated service and were also presented with cash donations.

Expressing gratitude on behalf of the GCPCUL’s Board of Directors, the Treasurer, Mr. Frank Owiredu-Yeboa, conveyed appreciation to Mr. Mensah and Mrs. Abubakar. He elaborated on the motivation behind the BOD’s decision to institute these honors, emphasizing the importance of recognizing and commending long-serving staff. Mr. Owiredu-Yeboa encouraged new staff members to aspire to similar dedication, assuring them that their commitment would also be acknowledged through this esteemed awards program.

In response, Mrs. Hamidatu Abubakar expressed her gratitude to the Board of Directors for establishing this awards system within the union. She shared her inspiration at being among the first beneficiaries of this new initiative. In an interview, she took the opportunity to encourage her colleagues to exercise patience and diligence in their roles, emphasizing that dedicated efforts would eventually be recognized and appreciated within the union.

This formal recognition of long-serving staff members marks a significant step forward for the GCPCUL, fostering a culture of appreciation and motivation among its dedicated workforce.
