
On Thursday, January 25, 2024, the Ghana Co-Operative Pharmacists’ Credit Union Ltd. (GCPCUL) had the honor of hosting executives from the national union of CUA, led by Dr. Bernard B. B. Bingab, Chairman, CUA. The visit was part of a comprehensive familiarization tour, focusing on strengthening bonds and seeking strategic advice.

Welcomed by Mr. Richard Eyison, Vice Chairman of the BOD of GCPCUL, Dr. Bingab emphasized the importance of values and ethics as the cornerstones for the growth of the union. He expressed gratitude for the dedication of the GCPCUL Board, commending their rich professional backgrounds that have contributed to building the union.
Dr. Bingab shed light on the penetration rate of CUA in Ghana, stressing the need for advocacy and deeper engagement to make CUA a household name. He lauded GCPCUL for nurturing the students’ wing at the KNUST School of Pharmacy, emphasizing the crucial role of primary societies in the advocacy movement.
Mr. Cyprian K.A. Basing, CUA General Manager, praised GCPCUL’s compliance with reporting and data collation. He highlighted the pivotal role of technology in the future of credit unions, applauding GCPCUL’s deployment of the FlexyBank Banking Software from Glydetek Group.
The visit coincided with an honor ceremony for long-serving staff, Mr. Francis Abebio Mensah and Mrs. Hamidatu Abubakar. Recognizing 13 years of dedicated service, they received awards presented by Dr. Bingab and Mr. Basing.

Expressing gratitude on behalf of GCPCUL’s Board of Directors, Treasurer Mr. Frank Owiredu-Yeboa emphasized the importance of recognizing and motivating staff. He encouraged new members to aspire to similar dedication, assuring them of acknowledgment through the union’s esteemed awards program.
